RAF St. MAWGAN is gone. Newquay now full GA facilities. NQY RADAR 133.4      This new Tower has a better Radar / Comms coverage than before, if you are 3000ft + they will see you over 80 miles out. (Exeter to the Scillies) They insist we use our transponders , those who do will find a very friendly and helpful service. NQY is going to be very busy this year so do not give them cause to divert commerical traffic around you!

Bodmin Airfield

Home of Cornwall Flying Club, sits on a hill 650ft asl. To find it head for Colliford Lake 4 nm NE of the airfield, tune in to Newquay NDB and it will take you over the top of the airfield for a standard overhead join.  Runway 13 is RH circuit and the A30 dual carriage-way is approx 150 yds from the threshold.  Runway 31 is LH circuit; be aware of wind-shear coming over the trees on the approach. 03 is shorter, a road crosses just 30yards from threshold and slopes left to right.  21 slopes right to left .  Great for visiting North Cornwall; a caravan on the airfield can be booked for an overnight stay.
